Today is when we head up to Frankfurt, our last stay of this trip. We’re here for three nights and we arrive by train from Stuttgart. I think this journey was the most stressed about for the entire trip. We’ll be returning to traveling with all our belongings in luggage after having been traveling in a car for weeks. This means going from a comfort level of packing a car to squeezing it all into three suitcases.
This morning we took our time pulling the necessary items for the last three nights in Europe together in our suitcases, and checked out of the tiny hotel rooms we stayed in for four nights in Stuttgart. I even pre-walked our path to assess the inclines and shaded areas we’d be walking through to get to our train platform for Frankfurt. We chose to walk since our luggage would have taken multiple elevators and may have impeded the crowded walking paths of the more traveled areas.
We arrived on the platform in time, and was able to post our luggage nearby and was overall a simple hour (plus 15 minutes) trip to Frankfurt. Upon arrival it was almost melancholy. With every city we’ve arrived to, there’s been an element of chaos and unfamiliarity. When we arrived to the long-distance train station at Frankfurt, it was completely peaceful. Considering how busy of an airport Frankfurt was, I was surprised to see the train platform empty and easily accessible for our crew of six travelers and luggage. When looking for the hotel, it was a matter of two elevator rides up to an open lobby where we seemed to be the only people around. From all the places we’ve been, it’s been nothing but busy travelers, except for now.
We had booked two adjoining rooms that were limited to only four persons, but we knew we’d fit our group of six just fine. After checking in with some of us hiding outside the lobby, we arrived to our room which was probably the most comfortable stays of our whole trip. Everything was very modern, and we had a wide open sitting area between both sleeping areas. We had three bathrooms, three refrigerators, and storage to sort ALL of our belongings. I say this was the best hotel of the trip, and the best train/airport hotel I’ve ever been in.
Originally the plan was to venture out into Frankfurt for the rest of this day. However, the presence of the room and the hotel’s executive lounge was enough to convince us that we had traveled enough for the day and no one had a desire to leave.
