Today was a full day of exploring from our location in southern Germany, and we wanted to cover the Black Forest and one of the most in-tact majestic castles still remaining in the area.
Our agenda for the Black Forest was to just see it, so our destination was one of the most tourist-visited locations within it. Triberg is home to Germany’s highest waterfall and apparently the world’s largest cuckoo clock, with more info as follows:

The drive was approximately two hours to get to Triberg, and the towns and views we passed did not disappoint. After only having the hotel breakfast, we were all looking forward to a meal once arriving. We found a darling spot next to a small lake, which turned out to be a kiosk that only had a few food items and mostly drinks to include cafe, beer, soda, etc.

Most importantly, it had a playground that was within view of the restaurant, so we went with the limited options menu that included bread, cheese, sausage, and a greek salad. Why none of us ordered a Black Forest cake is beyond me, but it looked amazing from the other guests. The nearby lake had a descriptive sign saying there were events held there during the 1936 winter Olympics.
Our next destination was the Hohenzollern Castle, which did NOT disappoint. We barely made it before closing time but were grateful they let us tour around briefly.

We were headed home when Greg asked if Tubingen was on our way, which it absolutely was. This was then added to the trip so we can pick up a proper meal while enjoying the views of the town from the river. Having visited the location a couple times before, we knew what to expect and it was nothing but a beautiful town with great food options along the Neckar River. It wasn’t a biergarten we sought out, but Mexican food at El Chico: https://el-chico-restaurants.com/
