With the included daycare, Greg and I wanted to focus on being active with Perla and Trent. Most of the trip (along with our normal lives) have shifted to include Diane and her schedule, we figured it was worth a day to be more mobile with our older kinder while we were able to.
Perla and Trent enjoyed time in the hotel pool after breakfast, and by the time we left the hotel to hit the mountain it was 14:00. Yikes, it was late considering a lot of the lifts ended service at 16:30. We enjoyed a full breakfast and even a lunch, so no regrets whatsoever!
We chose to ascend the mountains on the longest gondola. Once at the top, there was a gorgeous playground and a breathtaking view. Perla had been asking to visit a petting zoo, and I found there was one on the other side of the peak, which required some hiking and another (shorter) gondola ride down. It was a challenge to get her to hike, but with the promise of petting a goat I guess that was all the motivation she needed. The views were even more spectacular at the top of the Almbahn, and we were happy to get onto the gondola to get to the petting zoo. Unfortunately, when I saw the petting zoo I realized we’d had to walk another 20 minutes just to get to it. By the time we reached it and turned around, that gondola would have been closed. Basically we rode it down and back up to the Almbahn summit, took some photos, used the bathroom, then hiked back down to join Trent and Greg. With all that walking, she still had energy to play on the playground.
That night for dinner we all ate as a family. The kids buffet had schnitzel, which was easily consumed by both Perla and Trent. This was a huge win for us, so we can tell Perla that there are other menu items she’ll enjoy for the rest of the trip in Germany, as there is schnitzel everywhere. It’s almost like what chicken nuggets is in the US!
