This was our only full day in Italy, and was spent in our son’s namesake, Trento Italy. It was so great to include it on this trip!
One thing I love about established European cities is they have all the same things (plazas, fountains, playgrounds, train stations, castles, etc.). However some cities just happen to have ALL the perks and not as much tourist traffic as others. Trento was one city that was just enough of a destination to be forgiving to us English-trying-our-best-Italian and not too overrun with tourists.
Because we had a kitchen, I was able to cook some breakfast for everyone. For some reason, none of the scrambled eggs along this trip seemed to appeal to Perla, so this was our chance to get that protein source into her system. We all had a full breakfast and then Greg took Diane out while I got some work done and the kids had some tablet time.
We took the kids out to a playground with a neighboring outside cafe where we got some lunch and attempted to feed the kids some food from a place that didn’t have a kids menu. Their fryer was closed, so the menu items we were hoping to get for them weren’t an option. Regardless, Greg and I found more things to eat and the kids were fed a gelato lunch. They didn’t complain.
Greg took the kids to the Castelle de Buonconsiglio and I took Diane shopping. We visited a Chicco baby supply store, where I then realized that Chicco was an Italian brand…which makes so much sense!
For dinner we wanted pasta, so we found a place nearby the hotel (Ristorante Fratelli) that had decent reviews. There was no kids menu, but we managed to feed Perla some bread and Trent enjoyed some carbonara. Greg and I may have also enjoyed Trent’s leftover carbonara in addition to our pastas as well. With a carafe of red wine, our day in Trento was now complete.
