The day started with breakfast and pool time, with the rest of our Sunday to be spent with a photographer to show us all a couple of Provencal sites and take family photos. As much as they are completely worth it, preparing for any photos are WORK.
The effort to get the kids tired out so they slept in the car on the way to Les Baux-de-Provence didn’t really work out. When we arrived and walked to the Carrieres de Lumieres, Perla and Trent were NOT interested in what we arrived to see and were complaining of walking in the heat. They were already asking for the hotel room, but when when we walked in the cool enclosed quarry-turned-projection light show their attitudes changed. I personally didn’t know what to expect and was so intrigued how they repurposed the huge space for people to enjoy art projected on all the walls and floors coupled with music.
The next step was to walk up to the Chateau des Baux-de-Provence however we had an incident where Trent’s toe was squished in the folding seat. His cries immediately made us question if his toe was broken. Thankfully after some deep breaths and calmed words we can tell it wasn’t, but his pain was heartbreaking. Perla, Greg, and the photographer went up to the castle, and I waited with Trent and Diane in the car. With the air conditioning running, I was not going to complain about waiting behind.
We then had a quick outfit change and found a space in an olive grove to take some family photos. We then went for a picnic dinner in Eygalieres.
While it was a little bit of a walk and hike to a spot viewing the area, it was evident why it was worth it. The sun had not yet set and the color from the landscape was indescribable. The food was prepared by our photographer, and she spread everything out for a photo opportunity I look forward to sharing here on this post soon.
