Park City Whitmore Pestano Wedding

This was a once in a lifetime occasion where we joined two families together in such a beautiful ceremony bookended by other amazing social events. This was our first wedding post-pandemic and it will be impossible to be outdone! I’m biased of course, because both Greg and I were part of the wedding party, and our kids had active roles in the occasion. They did SO great!

The Rockwood family departed Fort Collins on Thursday, 7 July 22. A six hour drive took us about eight, with charging stops, bio breaks, and diaper changes. We arrived to our hotel in Park City at the Montage, opened our suitcases to change, met with our babysitter, then Greg and I left for the wedding’s first social event at the Park City No Name Saloon. This was perfect because it handled our first wave of catching up with some folks, leaving Friday night to catch up with a lot of other newly arrived familiar faces!

Friday night was the Wedding Eve event, and was *western* themed. This was probably the most sought out occasion to playfully dress up over the weekend as we saw a lot of creativity and meaningful cowgirl/cowboy attire. This was held at the High West Whiskey Distillery where food and drinks were amazing. It was nearby the next day’s reception area, and the atmosphere only wet our pallets for what was to come on the couple’s big Wedding Day. Spoiler alert, we were in for a complete treat!

Saturday was full, and all Rockwoods were ready on the starting line for the day’s events. Greg was with baby Diane and Trent in the groomsmen corral, while Perla and Claudia spent the morning getting dolled up with the dames. Preparation and photos was spent at the Lodge at Blue Sky. The hardest part was telling the kids they couldn’t go swimming at that hotel pool. Even as hot as it was that day, the photos were gorgeous and we were all ready for the mountain top ceremony. Access to the location was not easy, as specific vehicles had to shuttle all members up to the site and back down for the following cocktail hour and reception. Words can’t describe the venue, and as soon as photographer photos are available we hope to share them here.

Sunday capped off such a memorable weekend, with a feast at the Montage Deer Valley. Anyone who knows the bride knows how important brunch is, and the breakfast burritos served were the best. The Rockwoods and Franzens then returned back to Colorado safely, riding high on our buzz from the past four days. To prepare for the next turn of adventures, it’s time to unpack, launder, and pack again for tomorrow. Next destination Heathrow, United Kingdom!
